Filming blog: My house

Today my partner Kaitlyn and I filmed our music video. Kaitlyn came to my house at 10, and then we started getting ready. We quickly did our hair and makeup, and we filmed our first two makeup scenes in the bathroom. These were extreme close ups at eye level. We then did all of our living room scenes. These were also filmed at eye level. we had trouble filming one scene in particular. In that scene, I had to pour a blue "poison" into the plant. Instead of pouring it into the plant, it spilled onto the floor. We had to redo this scene many times because we kept messing up.

We didn't stick to our schedule either. Instead of taking the entire day, we only filmed for 3 1/2 hours. We were extremely focused and we filmed in smart ways. For example, we did all of our bathroom scenes at the same time and then all of our living room scenes. This was easier than going back and forth. We also realized that we had to change outfits for the telephone scene because it was supposed to be a flashback. Therefore, we put on normal t-shirts and pajama pants. For the phone call scenes we also decided to lip sync to the song. We then realized that we couldn't record the phone scene in the same location because then it would seem like they're in the exact same spot while on the phone. So Kaitlyn sat on my bed, and I went into the dining room.

In the kitchen scenes, we wanted a high angle. In order for us to do this, we had to put the camera on the tripod angle angle it downwards. Then we placed the tripod onto a table and hit record. This was difficult placement because of the size of the tripod. However, we did it, and the scene turned out nicely. After filming, we dumped the footage onto our google drives. It took 4 hours to download 88 videos. We also took at least two takes of every scene so that we can have a selection when the editing process begins. Overall, the filming process went extremely smoothly. The props and costumes worked exactly how we wanted them to, which made the filming process easier.
